2,158 cases of fever reported in Kozhikode on Saturday

A single case each of suspected hepatitis A and leptospirosis was registered.

KOZHIKODE: As many as 2,158 cases of viral fever were  reported on Saturday, according to the district medical office. Of them, 42 were  admitted to hospitals.  Also,  116 suspected cases of dengue and 13 confirmed cases were  found.   A single case each of suspected hepatitis A and leptospirosis was registered. As many as 236 acute diarrhoeal disease cases were also reported. Nine  patients were admitted to hospitals.

The health squads visited 9,769 houses on  Saturday as a part of preventing the fever epidemic.  Mosquito breeding spots were found in 786 households. “Cleanliness drive will be conducted in the entire district on June 27, 28 and 29. As many as 133 squad works have  been conducted by Vadakara unit of the district vector control unit,” said district medical officer  Dr Ashadevi. Health awareness classes  were  held in 16 places and spraying at  51 spots. Fogging, group awareness activities, pamphlet distribution etc are going on in full swing.
