19-year-old Lindsey Coubray is suffering from a condition which makes shower a struggle and she can’t go out when it rains. The disorder called aquagenic urticaria causes painful hives whenever she touches water.
Any contact with the liquid causes breathlessness and uncontrollable sneezing as she has to take medicines while bathing. She is one of only 50 people who have the condition and drinks milk as water leaves her with sores in the mouth.
She says doing things other people take for granted in everyday life is a struggle for her. Apart from rain even hot weather is a problem as sweating causes intense rashes.
