Experts warn drinking alcohol even a little can harm your child's wellbeing.

It can leave you children feeling worried and embarrassed, according to a report by The Sun. It can also disrupt their sleeping.

New research also found that parents who appear tipsy or drunk may not be perceived as a positive role model by their kids.

A report co-produced by the Institute of Alcohol Studies (IAS) and Alcohol and Families Alliance and Alcohol Focus Scotland found 29% parents thought acceptable to drink in front of their children as it didn't happy regularly.

The results also showed:
18% of kids felt embarrassed
12% felt their parents paid them less attention to them
15 % asked their parents to drink less

"All parents strive to do what’s best for their children, so it’s important to share this research about the effects drinking can have on parenting, and what steps parents can take to protect their children," Katherine Brown, chief executive of IAS told The Sun.

Adding, "Hopefully this study will help inform guidance that enables parents to make fully informed choices about their own drinking in front of their children.” Being their for your kids when they need you and being aware of how your child is feeling means they will be less likely to ask you to drink less, regardless of how much you are actually drinking."
