Last chance to register for the biggest walkathon of the country

The 9th edition of one of the biggest walkathons in the country – Oxfam Trailwalker India is being organized in Bengaluru this February from 7-9, 2020, and it’s an open call for the fitness buffs who enjoy making a difference. Regular training sessions in the city have been bringing together participants gearing up for the event, to build strength and stamina. Oxfam India has now announced the last training session before the walkathon and it will allow participants to experience and prepare for the actual scenic trail. On January 18, 2020, the city will see Bangaloreans assemble to test their endurance on a warm afternoon. Starting at the Govt. High School & PU College, Village Vishwanathpur, this practice session will be a way for locals to shake out of their routine life.

The walkathon in its past editions has attracted varied participation and sustained enthusiasm from people from all walks of life. Ranging from corporate employees and their CEOs to saree-clad women and 77-year-old men, participants are contributing and walking for a cause. Over 1600 people walked at Mumbai and Bengaluru last year to raise up to Rs. 5 crores. All proceeds of this from Oxfam Trailwalker India go to charity and help the underprivileged lot, especially children in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to this, Trailwalker helps participants stay fit, not just physically but also mentally. The training session this Saturday will see registered participants walking 17 km on part of the original walkathon trail. Starting from the edge of a beautiful valley in Nandi Hills, the trail passes through more than 30 villages, from Sultanpet to Olde Bengaluru Resort. The walkathon will take the participants through natural beauty and picturesque paths as they walk for a good cause and contribute their bit towards society. Oxfam India organizes free-to-attend, open-to-all training sessions every month in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru for participants, employees of corporate partners and interested individuals to prepare them for the ultimate challenge. Oxfam Trailwalker is an environmentally sustainable event and does not harm the environment. Oxfam India partners with organizations for waste management. Rigorous impact assessments are done to ensure that the event is sustainable and the waste generated during the event is effectively managed.
