Tobacco kills 6 million a year, says Jipmer head

Health professionals from other medical colleges in Puducherry, other parts of India and Nepal attended the workshop.

Puducherry: Jawaharlal institute of postgraduate medical education and research (Jipmer) director S. C. Parija said tobacco  kills nearly 6 million people a year worldwide who suffer from lung cancer, heart disease and other illnesses. He was speaking at the four-day capacity building workshop on tobacco control that concluded on Friday. 

Health professionals from other medical colleges in Puducherry, other parts of India and Nepal attended the workshop.
