Fitness blogger shows impact bloating can have on your tummy

Bloating can often make you feel uncomfortable and unattractive.

When fitness blogger Celena Kinsey's started receiving messages from girls wanting to know “how to get abs or a toned tummy", she decided to create an Instagram post to share the impact bloating has on the stomach.

Kinsey posted a side-by-side comparison of her stomach during and after a “bloating episode”.

"For as long as I can remember, I’ve suffered from these episodes of intense pain and bloating," she writes in the post on Instagram. Adding, "I’m sharing this to show that you’re not alone, and that we all have things that we’re battling and that’s normal.”

In the one picture her belly is more rounded due to abdominal distension and in the other her belly is flat. "So nope, I don’t walk around with abs 24/7, and I’m totally OK with that!" she said.

The blogger reveals bloating is common and that “affects about 10-30% of the general population” and women are twice as likely to experience it. Her claims is backed by researcher who revealed 25% of healthy people experience bloating episodes.

If the episodes become a regular occurrence, she recommends consulting with a doctor if there's a sign of something serious. Otherwise she says not to feel embarrassed or down about it.
