A bowl of chips sounds like the perfect ending to an exhausting day. However, reheating them for a hungover lunch the next day can often lead to an extremely soggy meal.

Now, one chip expert reveals what is the best way to reheat the leftover fries the next day without turning them limp and lifeless.

Talking to Metro.co.uk, Magda Ganea, from the Real Food Cafe in Stirlingshire, told that it's essential you remove moisture from leftover chips if one wants them to be crispy the next day.

According to her, the best way to take away any excess moisture is to pat them dry before re-cooking them on a very high heat in a pan or under the grill.

She added: 'Potatoes are full of moisture that escapes when reheated, especially in a microwave or oven where the steam can’t escape.'

Instead, she recommended that you 'twice-cook' your chips by heating them again in a very hot pan or grill, or even a deep fryer if you have one.

But she reiterates that the most important step is making sure they are dry before cooking them.

She urges cooks to use a piece of kitchen towel to pat the chips dry first before re-cooking them as this will remove excess water.

Magda says when storing leftover chips, cool them down as quickly as possible and then keep them in the fridge until you want to reheat them.

She advises covering the chips with a loose cover, as sealing them tightly can cause bacteria to grow.
