Ten reasons for totally desi sweet tidings this Dassehra. It’s the season to partake in the delicious and mostly sinful meetha that the festivities bring and here are our favourites:

The Kheer kadam, Cham Chamand Mishti Doi at KC Das are synonymous with celebrations. The kesar peda is melt in the mouth, and this iconic sweet shop serves up the best, freshest and delectable sweets.

The different flavoured Mysore  Pak at Bharatiya Jalpan are spectacular. Also try their no sugar and jaggery based burfis.

Try the best of Ghevar and  Chenna Rabdi at Tewaris. Made of pure ghee, their Malpua and Rabdi are the best in the city and so are their ‘chaats’ and ‘dhoklas’.
You must have the Gulab Jamuns at Bhagatrams on Commercial street. Among the oldest sweet shops in the city, do also try their Khoya and Jalebi.

No celebration is complete without the Kaju Katli and Anand and Kanti Sweets, both have delicious offerings. Try the varied burfis and gujiyas available and the freshly made jalebis.

When it comes to the sweets from the state, try the Badami Holige, Holige and Chiroti at Venkateshwara Sweets. Bansuri in Koramangala has the best Ghewar and Rabdi chenna. They also take orders on request.

Try Banccharam’s mishti doi and malai roll. You can get some really delicious obbatu or hollige and ladoos at Chickpet and Gandhinagar. Try the Badam halwa at Maiyas and the Champakali here.

Get some delicious Dharwad pedha made fresh from Kanti Sweets or even some local sweet shops.

You must try the sweets at Vidhyarti Bhawan, especially the Kesari Bhatt.
Veena stores is known for its  local delicacies and many people flock here for ladoos and sweet Pongal.
