Monsoons provide us with the much needed respite from the harsh and unforgiving summers. With rains approaching the city, it’s the right time to plan in advance to keep our health in check. It truly is the best season to enjoy but it also comes with its set of illness’ which might render the season not so enjoyable for the majority of people.

Here are a few tips to keep our health up this monsoons.

Switching to baked: A plate of hot steaming pakoras is what truly helps one enjoy the season but then again oily food causes bloating. What one can do in such situations is opt for the baked version of pakoras which ensure your palette doesn’t suffer and nor does your health.

Soups: Homemade vegetable soups or chicken soup and bone broth soup are a better option compared to the ones sold at the store. Incorporate garlic, ginger and black pepper in your soups as it not only improves the flavour but also helps in boosting our immunity.

Teas: Another thing about tea is that along with giving one the real feel of monsoon, it also helps one keep away from infections. Herbal teas like green tea, chamomile tea, peppermint tea and ginger tea contain antioxidants which boosts immunity. They also help with stomach related problems which are rampant during this season.

Hydrate: As the weather turns humid, dehydration might occur, therefore drink plenty of water. Avoid aerated drinks as it may reduce the mineral content in our body. Instead have homemade fresh juices, which not only provide nutrients but also refreshes you thoroughly.

Avoid green leafy vegetables: During rains there are high chances of contamination due to bacteria. Also avoid seafood as much as possible, as it is the breeding season and the catch may not be fresh as always.

Seasonal fruits: Lastly binge on cherries, plums, lychees, jamun and pomegranate as they boost immunity and also contain nutrients that are helpful during this season.
