JNC Road
Kise Watis, a creative educator, loves gorging on the street food in Koramangala and especially on JNC Road. She shares, “Around Jyothi Nivas College, there is a line of street-food vendors conjuring up some yummy chicken and veg momos and also pani puri. Paratha Junction on JNC Road has wide variety of Kathi rolls. I tried the egg and chicken variant. Towards Sony World, there are a lot of push carts right outside Reliance Digital that serve up some of the most amazing samosa chat, aloo tikki chat and bread omelettes. Apart from the fact that there is a lot of variety, when you’re eating on a budget, dinner is done within Rs 200, including dessert as well!”

VV Puram
Are you on the lookout for some great South Indian food? VV Puram is sure to satisfy you southern cravings. Homemaker Shalini MJ asserts, “This place is best for its South Indian food. Though you get chats, aloo twisters, akki roti, gulkand with fruits and cherry, pizzas and rolls as well, their South Indian is the best. When it’s avarakkai season in Bengaluru, the shops and stalls here come up with new and innovative ways to use these beans. I tried out the avarakkai dosa, chats and lime rice. So, for the three (including myself, my husband and our son) dinner costs less than Rs 200. Most of these are street carts and do not have a name.”

Vidyaranyapuram
One particular stretch in Vidyaranyapuram has a bunch of food trucks offering a wide range of cuisines. Graphic designer Kiran Ravikumar loves to try out new combinations of dosa at 99 Variety Dosa. “I tried the mushroom-pav bhaji dosa, sweet corn, etc,” he says and also recommends the pav baji from Mumbai Famous Pav Baji. “You can also sample a variety of chats, South Indian, as well as bunch of Chinese dishes, all under Rs 200,” he extols.

BTM Layout
Aishwarya Pandey, a working professional, loves the thela food that you get in BTM. “On 7th Main, there is this one guy who sells the most amazing Paneer Pav Bhaji and Masala Rice. The 99 Variety Dosa Cart sell unique combinations of dosa. Though I like the plain masala dosa, you get mutton and chicken dosa, paneer dosa and even chowmein dosa,” she lists enthusiastically.

Kamanahalli
This place has a mixture of restaurants, roadside thelas, fancy restaurants and, of course, momo stalls. Raina Joseph, who regularly dines out in in this area, says, “The best time to visit Kamanahalli is on Saturdays, especially in the evenings. The place is pretty crowded but it just goes to show that there is enough to eat and it’s literally growing to be a haven for all. When it comes to the best restaurant, I personally recommend Manasa Fishland. Seafood lovers would love this place and the best part is, it’s pretty reasonable. One plate of Kori Roti with Fish Curry and you’re sorted. Also, there is a dosa man right outside KFC so you’re definitely spoilt for choice. But if you’re in the mood to chill out with friends, then there’s Brewklyn Microbrewery. Café Pink Pajamas too is quite affordable and has some amazing chicken nachos and milkshakes.”
