Modelling has always fascinated youngsters. The reason could be the glitz, glamour, fame and money it brings with it. Though startup firms are functioning in diverse sectors, they are mostly not into the beauty and glamour industry. Here is a startup which is organising a national beauty pageant for college students.

The SAACOON National Beauty Pageant for college students, being organised by Edu Mithra Intellectual Services Pvt. Ltd, is an opportunity for both girls and boys in the age group 18-25 to step into the world of glamour. A pageant for the children from 7 to 12 years old is also being organised.

It is an opportunity for those unknown and unnamed beauties to walk the ramp with confidence and become the stars of tomorrow.

SAACOON, an avant-garde fashion fiesta, is an endeavour by a group of youngsters, who does not have the support or address of any biggies in the industry. The youngsters ventured into the fashion industry with a passionate mind to spread creative intelligence there through its diverse ventures.

“The name SAACOON is inspired from the concept of cocoon, the phase in which the worm is transformed into a beautiful butterfly, which then flies to great heights,” says Saneesh C.K., CEO of Edu Mithra.

“Most young aspiring models have to pay agencies to just walk the ramp or get a modelling opportunity. Even after spending the money, their chances of getting good opportunities is narrow due to lack of training and professional etiquette. SAACOON aims to help this vast number of aspiring talents through various means of promotion and marketing and give them a good platform to establish themselves in the industry,” he adds.

The show is happening in three stages. Online registration is followed by the initial screening as a basis for selection to the next level. Then there is a preliminary online screening, after which models will be shortlisted for the next round. A total price money of Rs 5 lakh will be distributed to the winners of the pageant, which will be held at Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara, on May 28.

“In an effort to help the weavers from Chendamangalam, who are on a revival path after the devastating floods of August 2018, we are using handloom costumes made by them. The handloom costumes will be provided to the 50 models who will walk the ramp in the final round,” Saneesh said.

The organisers have received hundreds of entries from colleges across the country and after the initial screening, more than 400 persons have been shortlisted. There is no registration fee for the event.
