Fashion this season has gone all topsy-turvy. Checks were quite the rage in the winter season. This season checks have emerged to be the print the IT print for the summer. We got to see checks in dress, jackets to even leggings. This season think of checks in pastel colours rather than those bold and dark colours we saw in the winter. We have seen stars like Tammanah Bhatia and Katrina Kaif proudly calling this trend their own.

The minute summer comes rolling in, people to tend to get out all their floral dresses, top and skirts, but this summer checks too is going to take the center stand. Designer Prachita Devi says, “When we think of summers its all about florals but this time around checks too are being taken into consideration as this print is different and out of the box.” Experimentation is the key to being fashion forward every season. “The season is all about being quirky. So try experimenting with prints on prints which I think will look chic for the summer.” suggests Designer Dhanya Ram Kumar who stresses that print on print outfits should not be paired with printed heels. The past few seasons we have seen designers experimenting with indo-western looks. What we didn’t realise is the checks which is such a western print has been a part of our Indian kanjeevaram sarees for a long time. Dhanya suggest, “Try a kanjeevaram checked saree with a black halter neck crop top. This is not only traditional but comfortable as well. A
two piece quad outfit that has checked bustier with a high waist checked shorts is the perfect look for a day at the beach.” Checks can be termed as the go to print for an office look. Designer Shriya Joshi adds, “Checked shirt with a solid colour box pleat short skirt gives out a very formal and professional look.” For people who thought checks can be used only in clothes are in for eye opener. “Bring in the checked element in the form of bangles, bags, jewellery or heels too,” says Prachita.

Use your own jewellery and style it with checks. “You can experiment with jewellery with this trend. You can pair checked outfit with waist belts, chokers and hats,” says Shriya. She stresses that with checks the key is never to overdo it. Loud prints with big checks are a definite no. Dhanya adds, “Keep the jewellery to the bare minimal. For checks you can opt for monographic jewellery. Tiny ear pieces will be the best bet.” Pastels have been quite a hit this season and this will suit really well for this trend. “Try out powder blues, pinks and an even light yellow which tends to give summery feel,” says Prachita.
