Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy aspires to see Visakhapatnam as a plastic-free city.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Kumari said that a Mela cum Sale programme will be organised on RK Beach road from August 13 to 15 on alternative products to plastic. Tribals in the agency will also participate in the mela by promoting bags and papers made of leaves, she said.

Around 40 stalls will be set up on the Beach Road near Vishwapriya Function Hall. Citizens can visit the mela and share their suggestions on the massive initiative Say No to Plastic in Vizag which started in the first week of June.
