Guwahati: A new book chronicling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political journey and his statecraft has scoffed at claims made on him being at loggerheads with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The book stated that “it’s ridiculous when someone claims that the RSS is not happy with Modi”.
The book, authored by Arjun S. Kadian, asserted that Modi carries the RSS imprints in his every action. It also credited the RSS for shaping Modi for India’s political leadership.
“Many still do not understand the relationship that the RSS has with the BJP. In fact, it is funny that some casually remark that Modi and the RSS are at loggerheads with each other,” noted the book, published by BluOne Ink.
Kadian further claims in the book that “there are also times when the media sensationalizes a story, wherein some would argue that the RSS was not happy with Modi’s ways, etc. Not is this utter nonsense, but it is also ridiculous,” added Kadian in the book.
He also stated that the “BJP is the political arm of the RSS”. Kadian is currently associated with the PM Museum and Library in New Delhi, while also being involved with think tanks in Haryana. Explaining the relationship of the BJP and the RSS, Kadian likened it to a large family where “members consult the head of the family in times of conflicts”. “The patriarch at the top manages every member’s request and plea. Like in the case of family members, there might be some conflicts now and then, but everyone is together on the larger cause,” the book claimed.
Kadian further stated turncoats who join the BJP from other parties undergo “readjustment” to understand the functioning of the party with the RSS. “Many of the leaders have been cleansed through a dip into the Sangh waters,” added Kadian in the book.
Stating that some of the turncoats carry imprints of their parties while joining the BJP, Kadian stated in the book that “they are soon divested of the illusion, and then they either re-adjust or quit.”
Revising Modi’s elevation as the BJP’s PM face in 2013, Kadian wrote in the book that “people from Singapore, the US, the UK, Canada, etc., came back to the country in hordes just to put their work for Modi’s election campaign…Indians all across the world came together in the name of Modi. People would call each other, enquiring if they are doing something for the campaign.”
Kadian quoted former Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu, saying that the “industries and the businessmen were brought on board for Modi’s economic vision for the country”. “The party reached out to a diverse spectrum including business leaders, industry associations, economists, business media representatives, and corporates, etc. They were told about Modi’s plan for economic growth and development.” Kadian quoted Abhimanyu telling him at his residence in New Delhi.
He further stated that “many business houses were contacted. A well structured plan for the economic future was also laid out.”
Kadian also lauded Modi for giving a personal touch with innovation in diplomacy. “Modi presented (former) Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe with a specially curated selection of Indian tea varieties, underscoring the shared appreciation for tea culture in the two nations. Similarly, during meetings with African leaders, Modi has gifted replicas of the Ashoka Chakra – a symbol of peace, progress and cooperation – symbolizing India’s commitment to supporting Africa’s development goals,” wrote Kadian in the book.
