The year 2018 is definitely the year of bold patterns and bright funky colours. Using funky, free spirited prints in fabrics as upholstery, cushions, wallpapers is a great way of making a style statement. However, it should be used sparingly, and judiciously. Funky prints should primarily be used in an informal area of the house, where the family spend their maximum time lounging around, eating... watching television.

Animalia
Graphic animal prints add a dose of exotic chic to any room, especially in a living room or even in your home office. A single chair with a zebra print, for instance looks fabulous in a living room. An animal print rug thrown in a study room or a library would look very chic.

Botonical/Tropical
Tropical prints exude a sense of freshness and breathe life into any given space. Printing or handpainting on furniture-like consoles, and table tops are a great way of using tropical prints. Inlay design of plants, flowers on table tops with semi-precious green stone, namely malachite is another interesting way of using these prints.

Floral
Florals designs are timeless, and very French, they make any given space look bright and cheerful. The idea however is to do everything in moderation and not an overkill! They can be used in almost every area of the house even in bathrooms as cushions, upholstery on chairs, foot stools, curtains, wallpapers and even wall art... another way of introducing floral patterns in the house is through carpets and rugs. Also not all floral patterns need to be colourful the classic black and white also works rather well.
