HYDERABAD:

The Telangana High Court  directed the National Medical Commission and the Kaloji Narayana Rao Health University to transfer  a medical postgraduate student, Dr Ganta Sativka  Reddy, from MNR Medical College to Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences under exceptional circumstances.

The student had filed a petition claiming that the health university's refusal to allow her to participate in the stray vacancy counseling on April 30 was a scam for blocking seats. On May 5, an interim order of status quo was issued.
Counsel for the petitioner claimed that during the additional mop -up phase counselling, Dr Satvika Reddy chose MD DVL at the Mediciti Institute as preference 4 and MNR Medical College, Sangareddy, as preference 5. The seat at Mediciti Institute, which was supposed to be allotted to Dr Satvika Reddy, was allotted to Dr Kandakatla Mounika, counsel said.

Dr Mounika was allowed a seat in MS Ophthalmology in Mamatha Medical College, Khammam, in the second round of counselling under competent authority quota. Therefore she could not participate in the additional mop up phase counselling without availing free exit before the prescribed time, counsel said.
