The novel coronavirus outbreak has severely impacted India due to which the country’s lockdown got extended until May 3. The economy of the country is hampered because of the pandemic and amidst the crisis, people in rural areas are majorly affected.

However, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Shaktikanta Das on April 17 announced that Non-Banking Finance Corporations (NBFCs) and Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) were benefitted with Rs 50,000 crore. The other window of Rs 50,000 crore was opened for National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and National Housing Bank (NHB). It will surely spur the growth in the rural regions of the country which was stopped due to lockdown.

In the current situation of lockdown, the Indian government is expecting that things will get back to normal though the pace might be slow. The RBI is putting in its best efforts to maintain financial stability in the country. Politician Shirish Boralkar who is the official spokesperson of BJP Maharashtra in a statement said,

“The government is making sure that the agriculture and farming activities do not get affected by the lockdown. All the assistance is being provided by the Indian government where farming is done. It is extremely great to see that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, the essential food grains are reaching to all the households of the country.” Besides this, the government is doing its best to control the spread of fake news related to coronavirus.

Mr Boralkar further added, “It is the responsibility of every citizen of the country to cooperate with the government and not spread any fake news.”

Narendra Modi in 2017 had the vision to double the output of agriculture by 2022. The pandemic might be an obstacle in fulfilling the vision, but every Indian can put in their best efforts and make it into reality.
