Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has advised citizens to remain vigilant against cybercriminals exploiting flash sales, season discounts, clearance sales, and exclusive online offers to defraud unsuspecting shoppers.
In public advisory, the TGCSB said the fraudsters were creating fake websites, impersonating popular e-commerce brands, circulating misleading advertisements on social media, and sending fraudulent links through WhatsApp, SMS, and email, offering products at unrealistically low prices.
Explaining the modus operandi, the TGCSB said the fake advertisements were offering heavy discounts on branded products and fake websites resembling genuine e-commerce platforms and asked the people to be more cautious.
