Houston battles massive floods as storm Harvey dumps rain on Texas

US President Donald Trump said he would visit the Lone Star State as soon as he could 'without causing disruption.'

Massive flooding unleashed by deadly monster storm Harvey left Houston -- the fourth-largest city in the United States -- increasingly isolated.

Public Information Officer Keith Smith also said Sunday that rescue efforts continue and now are focused on those who feel trapped inside a home or building.

The area is expected to have received a year's rainfall within a week. Five people are reported dead. Helicopters have plucked victims from rooftops.
A record 30in of rain (75cm) has fallen on the city in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, turning roads into rivers.
With rescue services overstretched as the rain continues, many people are having to fend for themselves.
In Houston, a woman drowned when she left a car which had stalled in high water, and another man was found dead in a flooded Wal-Mart parking lot in the Galveston area, officials confirmed.
The remnants of Hurricane Harvey sent devastating floods pouring into Houston Sunday as rising water chased thousands of people to rooftops or higher ground.
Up to 2,000 people have been rescued in and around Houston, the fourth-largest city in the US, where about 6.6m people live in the metropolitan area.
Harvey made landfall as a category-four hurricane late on Friday. It was later downgraded to a tropical storm.
