Kozhikode: Worsening the CPM’s intra-party clash, Koyilandy municipality chairperson K. Santha resigned on Saturday. Santha is the wife of former CPM area secretary N.V. Balakrishnan, who was suspended from the party on Friday.

Santha submitted her resignation letter  to  the CPM district committee office. She told DC that though she intended to hand over the letter to district secretary T.P. Ramakrishnan, he was not in the party office. “In the letter, I have  explained the reasons for my resignation,”  she said and added  that she did not want to make them public now. “If necessary, I will reveal the reasons later,”  she said.

It may  be recalled that the CPM Koyilandy area committee had suspended Mr Balakrishnan  for one year. Santha was absent at the meeting.
