CBI may probe High Court sitting judge case

Kochi: After the high court's refusal to quash the FIR filed against lobbyist T. G. Nandakumar the stage is set for a CBI probe into the bogus petition against the high court sitting judge case. It is learnt that the Home secretary will ask the Centre  to initiate steps to launch a CBI probe against Nandakumar in the coming days.

The state had handed over the probe to the CBI on February 22, 2012. The state police had initiated a probe but  failed to locate Nandakumar in Delhi as the address was fake. Police had stated that no evidence could be collected against the accused. 

The state then handed  over the case stating that the activities of the accused  being in Delhi it was not possible to conduct an in-depth and prolonged investigation by the state. The complainant Jomon Puthenpurackel stated that the state could go ahead with the notification issued and seek sanction from  the Centre for a CBI probe.

“The high court had observed that on the basis of the First Information Statement cognizable offences are made out against Nandakumar so the question of quashing the FIR does not arise at the this juncture," Jomon added.

The case says that Nandakumar  had prepared a bogus petition to malign Jomon Puthenpurakkal and to thwart the appointment of C. K. Abdul Rahim the current high court judge. A  letter was sent to the Supreme Court Chief Justice and others falsely claiming that C.K. Abdul Rahim had SIMI connections and  close links with Dawood Ibrahim.
