Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's decision to introduce centralised online ticketing system has great potential to revolutionise filmmaking in Tollywood.

Hyderabad: If it was ‘dus ka bees’ to buy movie tickets some time ago, it looks like things are moving the other way round — ‘bees ka dus' — in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decision, though aimed at hitting at his political rival and hero Pawan Kalyan financially, to introduce centralised online ticketing system has great potential to revolutionise filmmaking in Tollywood.

Online ticketing and uniform ticket rate in place of exorbitant rates in the name of benefit shows and capping the number of shows per day will lead to a drastic fall in collections. Distributors can in no way recover the exorbitant prices they paid to film producers who in turn will be forced to bring down production cost, majority of which goes as remuneration to the star heroes. No, the butterfly effect will not stop at the star heroes slashing their remuneration, but will ultimately bring cheer to filmgoers, for they can either see good films with meaningful content for normal ticket rate or stop cursing their matinee idols for forcing them to cough up more for a bad film!
