The series finale of "Welcome to Derry" concluded this season with a very ominous ending that submerged viewers into the darkest nooks and crannies of this haunted town. With "Welcome to Derry" being a prequel series for the Stephen King "IT" realm, this series' final installment centered on unmasking how this curse within this town has been maintained for all these years.

The episode covered a belang part of Derry’s history and demonstrated the role of the small-town citizens' complacency and refusal to engage with the reality of the changes that occurred within the town. While the appearance of Pennywise was that of more horror and terror rather than the frightening moments that are associated with horror films and series, the creature is once again reminded of the fears that are fueled by the malice that perpetuates the evil that is represented by the creature.

Social media responses from fans were not long in coming and many expressed their appreciation for the eerie feel and depth of the finale. Fans reckoned the episode to be “haunting,” “disturbing,” and “emotionally heavy,” with many appreciating the show for not deviating from the dark milieu set by King in his novels. Bill Skarsgård's Pennywise again won fans’ appreciation with his chill yet restrained performance.

Even if some fans, or indeed readers, wanted more clarification, there was obviously a general consensus that the hangover of confusion helped to make the finale more impactful overall, and Welcome to Derry certainly made for a chilling new chapter in the IT saga. And it will have more seasons ahead.
