Vikrant Massey reflects on his romantic musical debut, portraying the blind community with authenticity, and his upcoming role as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the biopic White.

In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, Vikrant Massey talks about his latest film ‘Aankhon ki Gustaakhiyan’ and shares his excitement about playing Sri Sri Ravishankar in the biopic, ‘White’

Your recent film Aankhon ki Gustaakhiyan was much talked about. What about the film drew you?

When Mansi brought this script to me along with Varun, I felt this was the right story at the right time in my journey. I am also grateful to Mansi for portraying the blind community with dignity and that truly moved me.

How different was your experience working on your first romantic musical film from the rest?

When I started my career, the kind of films that inspired me to become an actor were slightly offbeat. I never really got the chance to do a unique romantic film. So I knew I had to challenge myself.

How did you approach playing a character in a film that features a blind community?

It was a challenge. We visited a blind school together and built a real‑life bond that helped our on‑screen chemistry feel natural.

What was it like working with debutante Shanaya Kapoor?

Working with Shanaya Kapoor was amazing and fresh, because she showed tremendous dedication and passion in her very first film. It is very special when you are someone’s hero in their first film. We got to know each other as people. I think that also brought us closer.

Tell us about you playing Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Every moment spent with him is going to be etched for the rest of my life. I am so glad I have that access, and I can be with him, around him. I start shooting for ‘White’ in August. It’s a very important part of his life and world history. Unfortunately, not a lot of people, in India especially, know about his contribution towards peace and restoring world peace in Colombia. And he’s not just sort of contributed there, he's done much, much more. Through this film, we actually want to talk about all the other things that he’s done, how he’s contributed towards society.
