Hyderabad: The release of actor Vijay’s highly anticipated action thriller, Jana Nayagan, has been officially postponed. Originally scheduled to hit screens on January 9th for the Sankranti festival, the film’s release was halted due to a delay in obtaining clearance from the Censor Board.

Production house KVN Productions cited "unavoidable circumstances" for the delay. The issue stems from a deadlock over censorship; despite the producers reportedly complying with the Board's earlier demands to cut scenes and mute dialogues, the final certificate was not issued.
The matter escalated to the Madras High Court, where Justice Asha heard arguments from both KVN Productions and the Censor Board. With the verdict reserved until the morning of January 9th, the producers were forced to push back the theatrical release. A new date is expected to be announced shortly.
