Tollywood heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda made headlines once again, this time for his bold remarks on Pakistan-backed terrorism during the pre-release event of Kollywood star Suriya’s upcoming romantic action drama, Retro. The event, held in Hyderabad on Saturday night, saw Suriya and the film’s cast and crew in full attendance.

During his speech, Vijay addressed the recent Pahalgam terror attack, sharply criticizing Pakistan’s involvement. “These terrorists lack brains and desperately need education,” Vijay stated. “Pakistan, a country struggling with its own internal issues and lacking basic infrastructure, has the audacity to attack India over Kashmir. Let me reiterate — Kashmir belongs to India, and Kashmiris are an integral part of our nation. As Indians, it’s our duty to foster humanity and friendship. I strongly believe India doesn’t even need to go to war. One day, the people of Pakistan will be fed up with their government and revolt.”

Switching gears, Vijay also showered praise on Tamil superstar Suriya, affectionately calling him “Anna” (elder brother).
“Suriya Anna has always been one of my favorite actors. His performances often left me stunned. His movies inspire me; I want to act like him and do the kind of cinema he does,” Vijay said, adding that Suriya S/o Krishnan remains his all-time favorite Suriya movie, with a special mention for his love of the song Chanchala.

Retro, starring Pooja Hegde in the lead female role, is directed by acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Suriya under his 2D Entertainment banner. In Tollywood, popular producer Naga Vamsi is bringing the Telugu version of Retro to theaters on May 1, 2025.
