Telugu film Varanasi, one of the most ambitious and expensive projects currently under production in Indian cinema, has become the subject of postponement rumours on social media. Headlined by Mahesh Babu and directed by SS Rajamouli, the globe-trotting spectacle was officially announced for a 2027 release.

Speculation recently surfaced online suggesting that the film’s release had been pushed beyond 2027. However, the makers have firmly denied these claims. Putting an end to the rumours, the production team released a clip from the film’s announcement teaser, reiterating that Varanasi is progressing as planned and that there has been no change in its release schedule.

The film is locked for release on April 9, 2027, a date that was first revealed by us. The project boasts an ensemble cast including Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prakash Raj, among others, all playing pivotal roles. Reports suggest that the film is being made on a staggering budget exceeding Rs. 1,300 crore.

Music for the film is composed by Oscar-winner MM Keeravaani, while production is jointly handled by KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya.
