The much-hyped film Veerabhadrudu(Karuppu in Tamil), starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, has reportedly run into trouble in the Telugu states, with morning shows being cancelled across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

A leading distributor revealed that despite aggressive promotions and plans to release the film in nearly 160 theatres, the film could not begin screenings as scheduled. “Morning shows were cancelled in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Fans who were eagerly waiting for the film were disappointed,” he said.

According to trade sources, the makers are attempting to release the film by matinee or evening shows, but the situation remains uncertain. “The chances look bleak for now unless the pending issues are resolved quickly,” the distributor added.

Industry insiders claim that production house Dream Warrior Pictures is facing financial clearance issues linked to the Telugu release rights. “They might have taken loans against the negative rights of the Tamil version. Until those dues are cleared and financiers give approval, it will be difficult to release the film in Telugu states,” the source explained.

Earlier, director R. J. Balaji expressed his disappointment over the unexpected hurdles. He wrote on X: “Dearest fans, I don’t have a concrete answer to the current situation. Producers are doing their best to solve the hurdles. This film has always had hurdles, and somehow God has made us sail through all that, and here we are after 32 months. This time as well, I have faith, complete faith in him.”

Sources say Annapurna Studios extended support to the producers and agreed to distribute the film in the Telugu states. “Now it is in the hands of the producer to speed up the process and obtain proper clearance,” the distributor noted.

Veerabhadduru was expected to mark a strong comeback for Suriya in Telugu markets, thanks to its action-adventure backdrop. The film also received a promotional boost when Suriya’s brother and Tamil star Karthi attended the pre-release event in Hyderabad and extended his support to the team.
