In a surprising development, leading exhibitor and distributor Suneil Narang has resigned as president of the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce, reportedly submitting his resignation late on Tuesday night. The move has sent shockwaves through industry circles, especially at a time when debates surrounding the percentage system among Telangana exhibitors continue to create friction.
“We had an executive committee meeting yesterday, but he didn’t say anything about this decision,” said a member of the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce. “Probably, he took this decision during the night and messaged some committee members,” he added.
Sources indicate that growing disagreements among Telangana exhibitors and producers over ongoing debates over the percentage system may have played a role in Narang’s decision, adding another layer of uncertainty to the Chamber’s functioning.
In his resignation letter sent to Chamber representatives, Suneil Narang reportedly stated that he had been facing severe pressure from certain office bearers to take decisions that would benefit specific groups. He made it clear that he could no longer continue under such circumstances and requested immediate relief from his responsibilities as president.

Interestingly, Narang also suggested the names of Sekhar and Vijender as possible replacements who could immediately take charge after his exit.
Within industry circles, some also believe Narang recently found himself in an avoidable controversy after making personal comments about producer Naga Vamsi’s hair during an industry discussion. The incident quickly shifted attention away from the larger Telangana exhibitors issue and turned the conversation toward personal exchanges and side debates.
