Actress Shriya Saran has expressed concern over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create manipulated images of women, calling the practice annoying, wrong and potentially dangerous.

In an interview with News18, Shriya spoke about how women are increasingly being targeted through digitally altered images that turn their bodies into subjects of online discussion. Revealing that she has been a victim of AI abuse herself, the actress said such images often distort her body proportions or digitally remove parts of her clothing.

While acknowledging that public figures sometimes have to take such incidents “with a pinch of salt,” Shriya stressed that the practice cannot be justified. She described AI-generated deepfakes as “annoying, wrong, and potentially dangerous.”

The actress also acknowledged the benefits of artificial intelligence, noting that the technology can help people in several ways. However, she cautioned that its misuse could have serious consequences. According to her, every new technology brings challenges, and society must learn to address them as the entertainment landscape continues to evolve.

Her comments come amid growing concerns over sexually explicit AI-generated imagery targeting actresses. Janhvi Kapoor was reportedly a victim of such content, allegedly created using visuals from her song Chuttamalle in Devara. The incident once again highlighted the risks of AI misuse and the need to protect women from digital exploitation.

On the work front, Shriya recently appeared in Drishyam: The Conclusion, directed by Abhishek Pathak. She reprised her role as Nandini Salgaonkar alongside Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Jaideep Ahlawat. The crime thriller was released in theatres on October 2.
