Rashmika will join an elite league of actresses who surprised audiences by embracing negative or grey-shaded characters.

Rashmika Mandanna, who has built her career on glamorous and emotionally appealing roles, appears to be heading for a major image makeover. If industry reports are to be believed, the actress will be seen in a negative-shaded role in her upcoming film Raaka, starring Allu Arjun and directed by Atlee. Rashmika is expected to join the film's latest shooting schedule this week alongside Allu Arjun, but the biggest talking point is not her entry into the shoot—it's the character she is reportedly playing.

According to industry buzz, Atlee has designed Rashmika's role with several unexpected twists, making it one of the most intriguing characters in the film. While there has been no official confirmation from the makers, reports suggest that the actress will be seen in a dark, layered role, something she has rarely attempted in her career.

"I have no clue about her role in Raaka, but if she is indeed playing a dark-shaded character, it will be a completely new challenge for her," says producer Lagadapati Sridhar. "Audiences have loved Rashmika for her glamorous screen presence and emotionally driven performances. If these reports are true, this role could completely transform her image as an actress."

The Allu Arjun-Rashmika combination has already delivered two of Indian cinema's biggest blockbusters with Pushpa and Pushpa 2. This time, however, instead of portraying a romantic couple, the duo is expected to share a completely different on-screen equation, adding another layer of curiosity to the project.

Sridhar believes Rashmika has mastered the art of balancing glamour with strong performances. "She has perfected the role of the quintessential wife opposite superstars like Allu Arjun in Pushpa, Ranbir Kapoor in Animal, and Vicky Kaushal in Chhaava. She effortlessly transforms from a glamorous, modern lover into a graceful, saree-clad wife, making even conventional characters look stylish and memorable," he says.

The producer also feels Rashmika is steadily emerging as one of India's biggest multilingual stars. "She is likely to become more selective about Telugu films, choosing only star-driven projects while expanding her presence in Bollywood. With her acting talent, screen presence and dancing abilities, she is capable of giving the leading Hindi actresses tough competition," he adds.

If the reports about her role in Raaka turn out to be true, Rashmika will join an elite league of actresses who surprised audiences by embracing negative or grey-shaded characters. Kajol in Gupt, Priyanka Chopra in Aitraaz, Vidya Balan in Ishqiya, and Trisha in Kodi are among the notable actresses who successfully explored their darker side on screen. "She will surely be joining an elite club if she pulls it off convincingly," Sridhar concludes.
