Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is gearing up to make another strong impact at the Telugu box office with his much-awaited action entertainer Jailer 2. The makers are expected to command a premium price for the film's Telugu dubbing rights, reflecting the superstar's growing market in the two Telugu states.
"They have not yet begun discussions for the Telugu dubbing rights since the film is targeting an October release, although the final release date is yet to be officially confirmed," says a leading distributor. "Rajinikanth is set to mesmerise Telugu audiences once again because he is playing an age-appropriate yet powerful role. The film also features multiple antagonists, which further elevates his larger-than-life screen image. It promises to be an entertaining blend of family drama and high-voltage action."
He adds that Rajinikanth continues to enjoy immense popularity across generations. "His charisma and trademark style appeal not only to older fans but also to younger audiences and family viewers, making him one of the few Tamil stars with a strong and loyal fan base in the Telugu states."
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is expected to release on October 15, 2026. The sequel follows Muthuvel as he takes on a powerful idol-smuggling syndicate, while S. J. Suryah joins the franchise as a formidable new antagonist seeking revenge for the death of Varma. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa and Vasanth Ravi in pivotal roles.
"Rajinikanth's earlier film Jailer was a sensational success in the Telugu states, collecting over ₹35 crore net and more than ₹70 crore gross," the distributor points out.
