SS Karthikeya has offered an intriguing description of SS Rajamouli’s upcoming epic ‘Varanasi’, calling the much-awaited project a “volcano.” He made the remark while promoting his upcoming production Don’t Trouble The Trouble, hinting at the scale and impact of the Mahesh Babu-led adventure.
Varanasi stars Mahesh Babu as Rudhra, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas playing Mandakini and Prithviraj Sukumaran portraying Kumbha. The film blends action, adventure, mythology and time travel, with the narrative spanning different eras and locations. Rajamouli has already confirmed that several major action sequences have been completed.
Produced by K.L. Narayana and SS Karthikeya under Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business, the film has music by MM Keeravani. The makers have announced April 7, 2027 as the worldwide theatrical release date, making Varanasi one of the most anticipated big-screen spectacles.
Rajamouli has also revealed that Mahesh Babu will portray Lord Rama in a significant Ramayana episode. The film is expected to feature extensive VFX and elaborate action set pieces, while its official glimpse showcased Rudhra riding a bull with a trident.
With the film progressing steadily, Karthikeya’s description of Varanasi as a “volcano” has added another layer of curiosity around Rajamouli’s ambitious project.
