Nag Ashwin Assists ‘Pushpak’ Director?
Nag Ashwin is doing his bit to support one of his favourite directors’ comeback movie, says sources
It is a rare and fascinating combination. Legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, who delivered timeless classics such as Pushpak, Apoorva Sahodarulu and Welcome Obama, is reportedly making a feel-good entertainer, with the support of new-age filmmaker Nag Ashwin.
“Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is 94 years old, but his passion and love for cinema remain undiminished,” says a source. “He sought the assistance of Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin, who has now become part of the veteran filmmaker’s team.”
The source adds that it is rare for a busy contemporary Telugu director to spare time to assist another filmmaker. “Nag Ashwin has several commitments, yet he chose to support Singeetham sir out of deep respect and admiration.”
Recently, Nag Ashwin reportedly shot a few key scenes in Hyderabad for the light-hearted entertainer under Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s guidance. “The scenes were sent to Chennai for Singeetham sir’s review before finalising the output. This collaborative process is expected to continue for a few more weeks,” the source reveals.
The film is being touted as Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s comeback project. The acclaimed director carved a unique identity in Telugu cinema with memorable films such as Sommu Okkadidhi Sokka Okkadidhi, the path-breaking Mayuri, socio-fantasy Bhairava Dweepam and the iconic sci-fi thriller Aditya 369.
Interestingly, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Nag Ashwin struck a strong bond during the making of Kalki 2898 AD, where the veteran filmmaker served as a mentor, guiding the team in blending intricate mythological elements with science fiction. “Their discussions during Kalki laid the foundation for this collaboration. Now, Nag Ashwin is doing his bit to support one of his favourite directors’ comeback movie,” the source concludes.
