Deepika Padukone's Fans Take Potshots At Prabhas' Spirit Poster
The director announced the new release date on Sunday by unveiling a fresh poster on social media.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reportedly postponed Prabhas-starrer Spirit once again, with the film now scheduled to hit screens on October 29, 2027, as a Diwali treat. The director announced the new release date on Sunday by unveiling a fresh poster on social media. However, instead of generating excitement, the poster has disappointed Prabhas fans and triggered fresh trolling from Deepika Padukone’s supporters.
The poster features Prabhas dressed in black, sporting a cap and glasses, with a serious expression. However, the superstar’s face is barely visible, with the side-profile shot, cap and shadows concealing most of his features.
Considering that Spirit is directed by Vanga and stars a pan-India superstar like Prabhas, fans expected a striking first look that would make an immediate impression. Instead, many have found the reveal underwhelming, with some even comparing the actor’s appearance to Bollywood music director Himesh Reshammiya.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone’s fans have seized the opportunity to take fresh digs at Vanga and the Spirit team, bringing back the controversy surrounding her exit from the project. Reports at the time suggested that Deepika wanted to restrict her working hours to six to eight hours a day, a condition that Vanga was reportedly unwilling to accept.
Her supporters are now questioning the apparent double standards, arguing that while Vanga was unwilling to accommodate Deepika’s scheduling demands, he appears comfortable unveiling a poster in which even the face of his male lead is barely visible.
Their argument is straightforward: if the makers could not present a proper look at Prabhas in a poster announcing such an important release-date change, why was Deepika criticised for seeking specific working-hour arrangements?
Deepika’s supporters have accused Vanga of applying different standards to the two stars, turning what was meant to be a fresh promotional announcement into another round of social media debate surrounding Spirit.
