If sources are to be believed, leading producer and distributor D Suresh Babu is reportedly planning to contest for the president’s post in the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce elections. “He was initially reluctant, but a few senior members met him recently and convinced him to contest and aim for a unanimous victory,” says a source. “He is expected to lead a panel comprising Ashok Kumar, Damodar Prasad and others,” the source adds.
After a six-month gap, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce elections are scheduled to be held on December 28, with members currently in the process of forming two panels. “C Kalyan is also keen on contesting for one of the key posts in the upcoming elections,” the source reveals.
Earlier, Dil Raju served as president of the Chamber, while distributor Bharat Bhushan is the outgoing president.
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce plays a crucial role in liaising with the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and addressing several long-pending issues faced by the industry. “A widely respected figure like Suresh Babu would have the credibility to engage with both governments and help resolve key concerns of the film fraternity,” the source concludes.
