Buzz: Ram Charan To Take Rs 90 cr Pay for ‘Peddi’?
Interestingly, Ram Charan himself recently described Peddi as an experimental venture.
If industry sources are to be believed, noted star Ram Charan has reportedly agreed to a reduced remuneration for his upcoming rural sports drama Peddi. Despite dedicating nearly two years to the project, the actor is said to be charging around Rs 90 crore instead of his usual Rs 110 crore plus fee.
“Charan decided to take a pay cut because Peddi is not a conventional commercial entertainer. He strongly believed in the subject and was willing to make that adjustment,” a source revealed. “He worked on the film for more than 180 days, underwent a major makeover, and gave his complete commitment to the project.”
Interestingly, Ram Charan himself recently described Peddi as an experimental venture. Speaking about the film, he said that he trusted director Buchi Babu Sana's narration and immediately connected with the story.
“I hugged Buchi Babu after listening to the script. Later, I realized that bringing this story to life was far more challenging than I initially thought, and it could have gone in many different directions. But when a team works with dedication and sincerity, the audience will appreciate the effort,” Charan reportedly said.
The actor's comments have strengthened speculation that Peddi is a passion project rather than a formula-driven commercial entertainer. The film has already generated significant curiosity among fans due to its rustic backdrop, sports theme, and Charan's striking transformation.
However, sources indicate that the actor is expected to return to his regular remuneration package of over Rs 110 crore for his next film with director Sukumar, which will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Unlike Peddi, the Sukumar project is said to be a full-fledged commercial entertainer and is expected to require fewer shooting days.
Whether the remuneration reports are accurate or not, one thing is certain—Ram Charan appears to have invested extraordinary time, effort, and passion into Peddi, making it one of the most anticipated releases of his career.
