Following her Miss World 2017 win, Manushi Chhillar conceived and spear-headed a non-profit organisation called Project Shakti. The organisation aims at improving the menstrual hygiene of women in India.

The Bollywood debutant now also claims she wants to help raise awareness on issues regarding children and education in the near future. “My journey with Miss World opened my eyes to life, society and humanity. I got to meet the most incredible people across the world and came across fascinating stories of self-belief, self-reliance and survival. The lessons I learnt have shaped me as a human being and I want to constantly do my bit for social good,” says Manushi.

Manushi, who awaits her Bollywood debut with YRF’s Prithviraj, is certain she wants to use her equity as an actor to take up more causes and to dedicate her life towards bringing attention to initiatives on children and education. “How we protect our future generation will lay the foundation stone on how this world will shape up,” she adds.

Stating that she’s already actively working on Project Shakti, which she’s keen to expand and reach out to more women in newer cities of India, Manushi shares that she had elaborate plans for 2020. “But the pandemic stalled these discussions. However, I’m eager to roll out these plans and bring as much awareness across India about menstrual hygiene. It’s a cause I feel deeply connected to,” she adds. “My Miss World tenure showed me that as a society and individuals, we have a collective responsibility towards our next generation and we are looking at a serious crisis hitting us if we don’t pay attention to them.”
