Having done a number of films in the South, Shaykh Junaid will next be seen as a baddie in Puri Jagannadh’s forthcoming film Mehbooba.

“I play a Pakistani army officer in the film and it’s an intense role. I researched about army officers, their approach to the job, body language and how they behave. Shooting action sequences in chilly locales was tough, but a learning experience,” reveals Junaid.

The suave actor believes that playing negative roles is challenging. “The perception of baddies has undergone a sea-change. They need to match and surpass the protagonist at times, so it’s always challenging playing roles that have negative shades. But filmmakers have been approaching me for such roles, so I am quite happy about it.”

Having worked with Mohanlal in Malayalam film Lailaa O Lailaa, the actor will soon share screen space with another superstar, Mammootty. “It’s a great opportunity and I am looking forward to shooting with him,” says the actor from Jammu.
