Nagarjuna has played a variety of characters in the last couple of years, especially after Manam, which the actor admits was a turning point. With Oopiri and Soggade Chinni Nayana seeing him in completely different characters, he will soon be seen in the devotional film Om Namo Venkatesaya.

“One week before the shoot of the film, I was thinking about my next project. At that time, Omkar came up with an exciting subject. I don’t know how many films I am going to play the lead role in, as I am aging,” says Nagarjuna.

Talking about director Omkar’s film, Nagarjuna says, “I never attempted the thriller genre although it is my favourite. I used to watch all the thriller films from a young age as they excited me.”

He adds that not many big stars have attempted horror or thriller films in Telugu cinema. “Perhaps the directors feel they may not work out with the big actors. But when Omkar narrated the story, I felt that my character has a lot of scope and this is going to be another best for me after Oopiri,” says Nagarjuna.
He reveals, “When I signed Oopiri, I told my wife and kids that I got a good film. I did the same after signing this one.”

The actor is presently trying out different looks for the film. “Whether the beard stays or not will be known soon,” he says. Describing his character in the film, he shares, “I play with people’s minds as I come to know what they are thinking. However, I am not a magician or a psychologist in the film.”

Meanwhile, he says that Om Namo Venkatesaya needs a lot of graphic work. "The team is working hard to release it in February. Music director Keeravani has asked for two months to do the background score, so we are not in a hurry, but trying hard to complete the film in time,” says the actor.
