While Tharun Bhascker is working on the script of his forthcoming untitled project starring Venkatesh, he is also promoting Meeku Maathrame Cheptha, in which he plays the protagonist. Set for a November 1 release, the comic caper, directed by Shammeer Sultan, is produced by actor Vijay Deverakonda.

“Initially, I did not believe it when Vijay told me that I was the hero of the film, but after a few script reading sessions, I got a hang of it,” he reveals, adding, “Since it wasn’t a glamorous role but that of a typical middle class guy who has an anxiety disorder, Vijay asked me to just be myself in the film. I also had to shed a few kilos for the part.”

Revealing that the film is an entertainer, Tharun says that it throws light on the significance of privacy in the era of social media. “Through a comedy of errors, the audience will enjoy how things unfold,” he explains, adding that being an actor on the sets was initially challenging.

However, he admits that his only goal is to be a filmmaker. “But whenever there’s free time, I turn to acting, and even help my assistant directors with editing; it helps me learn different aspects of the trade,” he shares.

Describing Vijay Deverakonda as a fine actor, the Pelli Choopulu helmer states, “I was an introvert earlier. But after becoming a director and now an actor, I feel I have achieved something personally.”
