Hyderabad: Well-known Telugu film lyricist Sirivennala Seetharama Sastry has been admitted to a private hospital in the city where he is undergoing treatment for a lung infection.

The noted Tollywood lyricist was admitted to the KIMS Hospital two days ago with pneumonia. He is currently getting necessary support for the lungs and is in the intensive care unit. “He is under close observation and his condition has been stable over the past 24 hours,” the hospital said in a medical bulletin late on Saturday evening on Seetharama Sastry’s condition.

Seetharama Sastry, earned the ‘Sirivennela’ moniker after the songs he wrote for the movie by the same name released in 1986, became a hit.

Though he wrote lyrics for songs for Jailu PakshiAadi Dampatulu and Ladies Tailor movies before Sirivennala, it was this K. Viswanath-directed movie that turned Seetharama Sastry into a household name in Telugu-speaking homes.

His most recent work was for the movies RRRKonda Polam and Narappa movies.
