While the pre-production of Unni Mukundan’s home banner film, Meppadiyan, was what kept him going during last year’s lockdown, this year, the actor says he is praying and hoping the current crises would end soon.

“I hope and believe that the second wave of the pandemic will end soon. I am trying to be optimistic about life, thinking that tomorrow will be a better day,” shares the actor.

“The current situation is horrible. But it shouldn’t affect us to such an extent that we cannot stage a comeback. People cannot be depressed and shouldn’t get into a shell; it’s very important to spread hope and positivity at this hour,” says the actor, who keeps reading books, listening to inspiring music and singing to stay positive. Unni will be next seen in the Ravi Teja-starrer Khiladi, his third Telugu film after Janatha Garage and Bhaagamathie.

The Malayalam actor shares that he is very choosy when it comes to Telugu films. “I have been constantly busy in Malayalam. Moreover, I turned producer recently. So if I have to do a film that’s beyond my Malayalam shores it has to be a great and convincing script, and a kickass role. I believe my role in Khiladi is one such role, and is completely different from what I have done in Telugu,” he shares, adding that director Ramesh Varma shot the film stylishly.

Unni also thanks the Telugu audience for accepting and welcoming him. As far as learning Telugu is concerned, Unni reveals that language was never a barrier for him. “I am fluent in Telugu, and I can also speak Gujarati, and a few other languages,” he says.
