Undeniably, Tamil superstar Vijay’s market in two Telugu states is expanding over the years and his next film “Leo” has been reportedly bought for Rs 22 crores by Sithara Entertainments, who are turning distributors with this action-based movie in two Telugu states. “Few top distributors held negotiations but were hard nuts to crack since they were unwilling to pay Rs 25 crores as demanded by Tamil producers,” says a source from Chennai.

Actually, Vijay’s last release ‘Varasudu’ garnered around Rs 12 crores, so Telugu buyers were reluctant to bet more money on Tamil star Vijay. They were willing to cough up to Rs 18 crores since it is a heady combination of Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is known for hits like ‘Vikram’. “With producers didn’t want anything less than Rs 20 crores, so were waiting for the right offers. During this time, cash-rich production house Sithara Entertainments offered Rs 22 crores and the deal was closed,” the source adds.

Nonetheless, Vijay has surpassed his colleagues like Rajnikanth, Surya and Karthi and he is going to go places if ‘Leo’ turns out to be a blockbuster. Right now, Tamil stars are surely making waves in two Telugu states and drawing good amounts from Telugu buyers.
