Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey has acquired the Hindi remake rights of the acclaimed Malayalam film Puthiya Niyamam (2016) that featured Mammootty and Nayanthara.

A source close to Plan C Studios, a joint venture floated by Pandey and Reliance Entertainment, informs about this development.

“Puthiya Niyamam (released in 2016) is the story of a Kathakali dancer Vasuki Iyer played by Nayanthara, who was raped by her neighbours. Vasuki informs the lady DCP about the rape as she is unable to tell her husband Mammootty (who plays advocate Louis Pothen). Pandey wants to make that film now with a top Bollywood actress. Other characters including the husband and the firebrand female cop will also be finalised soon. The film is a family drama as well as a thriller. And, Pandey loved the film when he saw it. The film also has a revenge angle in it where the heroine takes revenge on the perpetrators,” informs our source.
