The Telugu film Adirindi, the dubbed version of Tamil superstar Vijay’s film Mersal, was supposed to be released on the 18th of this month along with the original Tamil film. However, the makers claim that they could not release it as the Telugu version was not censored in time.
Although many believe that the Telugu version is being censored in Hyderabad, generally for any language film, if the producer wants to dub it in another language, they apply for censor clearance at the same place where the original film is done. In the case of Adirindi, the makers applied for the Telugu version to be censored in Chennai at the last minute, thus delaying it.
Meanwhile, Sharrath Marar, who is releasing the Telugu version, has put nearly Rs 3 crore on the promotions. He had even made agreements with the theatres, but at the nth hour, everything went wrong. “I hope the film releases this Friday. I am confident that it will do well,” says Sharrath, who adds that he is in touch with the Tamil film producer Murali with regard to the film’s Telugu release.”
