It’s been around eight months since Nithin entered into wedlock with Shalini. The actor says that things have been much the same since then, but feels that he’s in a very happy space of his life.

“My marriage was a bit of a low-key affair due to COVID-19, but things went smoothly,” says Nithiin, speaking to us for the first time after the milestone.
Talking about how he spent his lockdown time, he says, “During the lockdown, I used to eat a lot (smiles). Shalini and I watched a lot of TV shows, web series, and films on OTT.” And what about life after the lockdown?

“Most of the time I was shooting rather than trying to decode women’s idioms,” the actor smiles. So, what has changed?  “Earlier, after coming back from the shooting, I used to chill out talking to her; now, after marriage, I am coming back and unwinding in Shalini’s company,” he shares. Like their marriage, the first Valentine’s Day as a wedded couple was also low-key.

“We did not make any grand romantic gestures to woo each other, but it was just any other day for us. Shalini and I were at home and we spent quality time together,” explains the A…Aa star, who is known for his lover boy acts in Telugu rom-coms.

His upcoming film Rang De, directed by Venkly Atluri, is also a romantic entertainer, and, interestingly, talks about life after marriage. “Rang De is a light-hearted romantic drama. I get married to Keerthy Suresh, and we deal with relationship issues,” says Nithiin, clarifying that the plotline has nothing to do with his real-life scenario.

At a time when actors are constantly linked to co-stars, Nithiin says Shalini doesn’t have to deal with such issues. “That’s because we have known each other for years, and she knows how the industry works. Our relationship evolved so organically that there’s a lot of love, trust and understanding. I believe that’s all that matters,” says the Bheeshma actor.

According to him, the best part of Shalini is her approach to people. “She is non-judgmental and treats everyone equally; she is very empathetic too,” the Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde star shares.

Coming back to Rang De, Nithiin lauds producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi for backing realistic cinema.  In parting, we ask Nithiin whether his wife gives him feedback on his films. “She seldom watches them,” he says.
