Joining the bandwagon of actors who’ve veered into politics is young actress Reshma Rathore of Ee Rojullo fame. The 27-year-old has decided to contest the upcoming elections. “I belong to Yellandu of Mahabubabad constituency and I have grown up watching the local and national issues around me,” says Reshma, who holds a postgraduate degree in law and has acted in about 20 films including Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Her father is a senior manager at Singareni Collieries Company.

Reshma shares, “Even though I entered the film world, I was always in touch with my native village. Whenever I come here, people come and talk to me about the local problems, especially the Bayyaram steel plan. My main agenda is to develop this area and establish the Bayyaram steel plant which will generate employment for hundreds of locals.” The actress will be contesting the elections from her home area, the Mahabubabad Parliamentary Constituency.

“Since the last few months, I have been consulting the local people and I will make an official announcement about which party I will contest from on April 14,” reveals Reshma, hinting that she wants to join a national party, rather than a regional one.

She further states, “I chose to contest the Parliamentary elections because some issues should be resolved by the Central Government. I can raise my voice in the Parliament and also be in touch with the Central Government to get sanctions for the development of this area.”
