Actress Samantha sues 2 web channels, doctor
The channels allegedly projected a view that she was the main culprit for the breakdown of her wedlock with actor Naga Chaitanya
Hyderabad: Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has filed a defamation suit against two web channels -- Suman TV and Telugu Popular TV, and also gastroenterologist Dr CL Venkat Rao. She alleged that they were defaming her reputation by character assassination and uploading of derogatory comments against her.
The channels allegedly projected a view that she was the main culprit for the breakdown of her wedlock with actor Naga Chaitanya.
Samantha filed the petition before the additional district court at Kukatpally through her GPA or attorney holder Bollipalli Mahendra Babu, who is a film producer. She said the channels were maliciously telecasting comments to hurt her reputation.
She requested the court to direct them to delete the “derogatory remarks/statements/comments aired or published” against her about her divorce. She also requested the court to grant ad-interim injunction, restraining the two YouTube channels and their “henchmen, agents, servants” from making false and derogatory comments against her.
Counsel Balaji Vadera on behalf of the petitioner requested the court to issue necessary directions. However, the judge was not inclined to entertain the application because it was listed “out of order” but would have a look at the petition on Thursday.
