My journey has been fruitful, says Upendra

Actor Upendra visited the city for the teaser launch of his forthcoming bilingual film, I Love You. While talking about the film, the actor said, “It’s an emotional love story blended with commercial elements. There are many dimensions to it, and the director R. Chandru has handled the script very well.”

It’s been almost 30 years since the actor forayed into cinema. Describing his journey as fruitful, Upendra says, “I never thought or planned to be in the industry for 30 years, it just happened. However, I was always clear about the fact that whatever I take up, I’ll hang on to it for the long term. I guess my handwork and ‘do whatever it takes’ attitude has brought me this far.” Upendra had also forayed into politics but had to quit the party.  However, he continues to be active in politics with the intent of serving people.

“Politics has turned into a business, certainly an expensive affair. I believe that corruption is the root cause of all problems. What we need is a political revolution against corruption. I believe that now, with the advent of social media, we can reach people much more effectively. So I want to start a political party that is transparent, with an intent to engage people in its administration,” he reveals.
